A growing menace in the society is considered to be represented by substance abuse. Disregarding age, gender and ethnicity, anyone can be a victim of it. The situation in which the use of a substance causes a detrimental effect on the physical and mental condition of an individual can broadly define the substance abuse. On the financial, social and even legal standing in the society of a person, substance abuse can also have devastating effect.It can be almost anything the 'substance' in substance abuse, as it can also be legal or illegal. Substance abuse can also refer even to the non prescribed use of prescriptive medicines. There are often being registered cases of substance abuse, injections, inhaling and oral usage of the substance, especially by teens. This is a major problem worldwide, as teen substance abuse has become quite common nowadays. Also, in some cases of teen substance abuse, there can be as well registered the sniffing and smoking of the said substance.
The non prescribed use of prescribed medicines is considered to be the most common way of teen substance abuse. Also, an overdose of sleeping pills prescribed by a doctor is considered to be another type of teen substance abuse. Basically, almost all cases of teen substance abuse refer to taking any substance into the body in any other way than as prescribed by the doctor.
Alcohol, drugs and other intoxicating substances have been abused commonly, other than prescribed medicines. The results of teen substance abuse can be seen in drug dependency and drug addiction.
Alcohol and nicotine are considered to be some of the most common substances people are dependent on. Teen substance abuse has become a worldwide problem. It is said for so many teens to be seen in sufferance because of their addiction.
