Knowing Why, When, and How to Find a School for Your Teen

Choosing All Girl Boarding Schools

Back to articles list

Girl boarding schools have come quite a long way from "finishing schools" that used to teach young ladies how to handle themselves. Most modern parents have little time to spend with their children, with dual careers and busy lifestyles and this is why a lot of parents prefer to send their daughter/s to all girl boarding schools so they grow into intelligent and responsible young women.

Girls face many pressures during their adolescence years and during this time, a main focus becomes attractions for the opposite sex that become all consuming, and school grades are the last thing on many a young lady's mind. Consequently, their grades go down at a moment when education is crucial to their future. Social pressures, male domination in some fields like math or science, and sexual harassment in public schools are some of the other reasons why girls find it hard to adjust. Some girls are shy and easily embarrassed, especially by boys and therefore, their natural abilities are suppressed, and after a while it becomes hard to catch up and recover. All girl boarding schools are the answer for girls who suffer from any of these types of problems.

Girls in all girl boarding schools find a home away from home. They learn what friendship is all about irrespective of their religion, region or language. They learn to make decisions and to take responsibility for them. Girls who have graduated from boarding schools were found to be more independent, confidant, disciplined, focused and successful and more so than their counterparts who studied in day schools. They learn to live in a community, helping each other like siblings would do. Girl boarding schools aim to develop their students in all aspects: academics, sports, art and much more. And, there are no boys that will interfere with their development on a day-to-day basis.
