Teen Substance Abuse And AddictionIt is a pretty hard job as a parent to keep you child away from drugs and alcohol. It may be tough but using education as your main weapon and giving your child love and attention you can actually manage to do that. If you suspect any teen substance abuse or addiction at your child or other kids, you should either get help immediately or try to educate yourself and find a way to deal with the teen substance abuse case.Teen substance abuse and addiction is not quite the same thing. Drug or alcohol abuses always come first before the addiction, thus the importance and attention needed for any symptoms. The addiction is a chronic disease and people need to put in a great deal of effort for its treatment. An abuse starts at the moment when you adolescent child decides consciously to take drugs. Because drugs usually produce some physical changes in the brain it will not take long before you teen will crave for that drug or even worst will want to try something stronger. In every case of teen substance abuse or addiction all skills and abilities like thinking, memory, mood and motor skills are more or less seriously affected. The cases of teen substance abuse are even more serious than in the case of adults because their body and mind are still in a developmental state. Turning to drugs or alcohol may totally change the way they perceive themselves, the way they learn and the entire growing up process. Some of the most common issues they will have to face will be the lack of concentration, memory loss, impaired judgments and thoughts and participating in very dangerous actions. If he decides to take drugs or abuse alcohol let him know all the consequences he will need to face at all physical, emotional and behavior levels. |
